To avoid too much long-windedness the following terms, abbreviations and conventions have been used:
Relating to the Minor tiles (i.e. 2 to 8 of each suit)
Bonus tile | Flower or Season tile |
Clean hand | A Mah-Jong hand that is made up of just one suit, with some honour tiles (not the same as the special hand, “Purity”) |
Dealt hand | The tiles that you acquire from the wall at the start of the game |
Dirty hand | A Mah-Jong which is made up of more than one suit (i.e. not a clean hand) |
he/him/his | he/she, him/her, his/hers |
Honour | Relating to the Dragon and Wind tiles |
Major | Relating to the Major tiles (i.e. 1 and 9 of each suit) |
Minor | Relating to the Minor tiles (i.e. 2 to 8 of each suit) |
MJ | Mah-Jong |
Normal MJ | A Mah-Jong which is not a special hand |
Pick-ups | Tiles which are picked up from the wall or from discards |
Same tile | A tile which is one of the same set of four tiles |
Simple MJ | A Mah-Jong that is the easiest to collect rather than a high scoring one |
